“We’re arguing more and I don’t know what to do.” No problem.

Individual Relationship Therapy for Black Women in California

I wonder if this sounds like you:

  • You’re on an emotional rollercoaster in your relationship. One day everything is all good and the next day it’s all bad.

  • You feel alone, isolated…like you can’t talk to anyone about what you’re going through because you’re embarrassed and frankly, what’s happening feels indescribable?

  • You wish you could talk to your partner about it, but his mood is so unpredictable, it could start a fight.

  • You find yourself confused most of the time. No matter what you do, it’s never enough; there’s always more or something different you could’ve done.

  • You find yourself thinking, “if I don’t give him anything to be upset about, today could be one of the ‘good days.’”

Most of the time, you’re feeling anxious and a bit out of control but it’s possible to feel more confident both in or out of your relationship. I’m here to help.

Bradlisia Dixon, individual relationship therapist in California, smiles into the camera

Hi, I’m Bradlisia! I believe black women can have it all:

The success, the adventure, the love!...

…and therapy that doesn’t feel too “therapist-y!” I work with successful, achievement-driven black women who are thriving in business but not-as-much in their romantic relationship. I believe you deserve to be supported by someone who’s “been there, done that” and can create a safe space for you to speak freely, build confidence, learn to assert your boundaries, and get after the full life you deserve!

Individual Relationship Therapy can help you improve your relationship!

A fluffy white blanket sitting next to plants and books. If you are a strong black woman struggling in your relationships Individual Relationship Therapy in California can help.

You can go from feeling crazy, consumed, and “on edge” to feeling confident, clear, and relaxed in your relationship. You can have the same level of success you have in other parts of your life, in your relationship, too. With support, it’s possible and can be closer than you think.

Because we’re so emotionally close to what’s happening, relationships can be hard to navigate by ourselves. But what if you had someone help you make decisions and move through the hard parts? My approach includes YOU and how you wish to move through changes in your life.

Together we’ll:

  • examine how your arguments tend to go so you can understand your part in the argument cycle vs their part

  • learn when to negotiate or compromise in your relationship vs. when to set healthy boundaries

  • improve your somewhat shaken self-esteem/confidence

  • create effective boundaries that fit you and implement them so you can start changing your relationship for the better today

  • collaboratively work on your relationship together, getting you supported every step of the way

Now that you’re Type A brain is satisfied, just know we’re gonna do the work, but we’ll “kiki” alot-a-bit too!

Don’t count yourself out! The best investment you can make is in YOU!

Schedule a Free 15-minute Consult

  • $375 for 45 minute individual therapy

$400 for 60 minute individual therapy (some clients do fine with 45 minute sessions, but if we find that our sessions often go over, we may mutually agree to try 60 minute sessions.)

The schedule I like to keep is 10 weekly sessions in a row and then a 3 week break for the both of us. Most clients graduate from therapy within a little over 1 year which goes by pretty fast!

But if you’re looking to gain clarity and know what to say and do in your relationship alot sooner, Extended Sessions (aka Intensives) are available (Investment $1,799).

  • I am licensed in California and offer virtual appointments so you can comfortably join session from wherever is most convenient for you.

  • I am an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies. What this means is I do not bill any insurance companies directly. If you are able to afford the weekly sessions upfront but would like to seek reimbursement from your insurance company as a bonus, I’m happy to provide a superbill which you can submit to your insurance.

Typically, if you have a PPO plan, you can expect some reimbursement from your insurance, but you would be responsible for contacting them to confirm you have those benefits. You are, also, responsible for submitting your superbills to them unless we agree to work with a third-party company like Thrizer to help with reimbursements.

I’m happy to answer any other questions around this during a consultation. Please note that seeking reimbursement should be a perk, not a necessity to work with me; I’d much rather make a referral to other resources than know you’re struggling to afford therapy.

Additionally, You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. You can ask for this before scheduling a service.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical service, including psychotherapy services. Since my services are private pay, you will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate at least 1 day before service or at your request.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • Some helpful questions to ask would be:

    • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services?

    • How much will you reimburse for each session I attend and pay for?

    • Do I have an out-of-network deductible? How much of it has been met already?

    • Check reimbursement for CPT codes 90791, 90834, 90837

  • There are so many other options for you, and I want you to know what they are while you have the momentum. I wrote an eguide detailing all of your options for therapy and how you can make it work for your unique situation. Grab it here!

  • I accept card payments via HIPAA secure Simple Practice payment system. HSA and FSA are accepted, as well.

  • I meet with new clients weekly for 45 or 75 minutes. This frequency allows me to get to know you and what you’re up against so we can begin to make progress toward your goals. How long you’re in therapy is based on a few factors, but typically we will both intuitively know when you’re ready to graduate! You are more than welcome to come back for a “tune-up session” after graduation, if needed.

  • Schedule a 15-minute consultation with me. I’ll give you a call and ask a few questions to learn more about you and what you’ve been experiencing lately. (Hint: You know the answers already.)

If we both decide we’re a good fit, we’ll book your first appointment! Yay!

If we’re not, I’ll share some referrals or ideas of where you can look next to make your search easier.

  • Yes! You’re only going to get the most out of therapy if you work with a therapist that works for you, which is why I have created a detailed eguide for this very thing. Click here to snag it!

Have it all…including a healthy, loving relationship!
